Explore Learning members with children learning to read get their own Phonics Hero account, with 850+ systematic synthetic phonics games that teach your child to read and spell. It is included in your Explore Learning fee, so there is nothing extra to pay.

Your Explore Learning centre will give you a Phonics Hero username and password when you join. Your username will start with exp.

Leaving Explore Learning

Your Phonics Hero account is part of your Explore Learning membership, so you can’t keep it when you leave. But your child doesn’t have to start again. Before your membership ends:

1. Note your child’s level. Log in and click ‘Reporting’ in the left-hand menu to see the level your child has reached.
2. Export the report if you’d like to keep a record of your child’s progress.
3. Create new Phonics Hero account with a free 7-day trial.
4. Get in touch with our support team and let us know your child’s level. We’ll update your new account to match, and add a few star points so your child can restock their hideout.

How do I change my child’s level or reset their Placement Test?

Contact the Explore Learning centre you signed up with. They can change your child’s level or reset their Placement Test, and your child’s tutor needs to know about any change.

Where can I view my child’s progress?

Log in to your Phonics Hero account and click ‘Reporting’ in the left-hand menu. Use the drop-down menus to choose which child and level you’d like to see.

Why are there some missing scores on my child’s report?

Scores are only recorded when a child plays the games. After the Placement Test, there are no scores until your child starts playing the level the test moved them to. If your child’s tutor changes their level (for example, from level 7 to level 10), no scores are recorded for the skipped levels.

There was an issue or error in a game. What should I do?

Report it to your Explore Learning centre, or click the ‘Report a Bug’ tab on screen while playing. This sends the details straight to the Phonics Hero customer service team so we can investigate.
